Venture an Hour from Chania to Explore the Magnificent Omalos Plateau

Embark on a scenic drive through the countryside and up the White Mountains to reach Omalos plateau, the gateway to the renowned 16km-long Samaria Gorge. With your guide, you have the option to embark on a shorter hike into the gorge, offering a glimpse of its stunning landscapes before returning along the same path. Please note that this portion of the walk involves steep downhill terrain and slippery conditions.

Alternatively, take your time to leisurely explore the plateau, soaking in the breathtaking vistas, capturing memorable photographs, and enjoying a mountain tea at the local kiosk. The day’s itinerary is flexible, allowing you to tailor your experience according to your preferences. You may opt for various impressive hikes in the area, such as the lush Agia Irini gorge, discussing the options with your guide on-site.

As the day unfolds, we’ll conclude with a visit to the serene village of Sougia along the south coast, where you can unwind with a refreshing swim in the crystal-clear waters and relish a delicious lunch at one of the waterfront tavernas. In the late afternoon, we’ll journey back to Chania.
