Heading west, our journey begins with a captivating walking tour of Rethymnon, exploring its narrow, winding streets, historic houses with wooden balconies, and Venetian and Turkish monuments. This stroll through time will reveal the city’s rich, layered history, including stops at the Loggia, the Fortezza, and the Rimondi Fountain. We will then continue to the charming town of Chania. Once encircled by Venetian fortifications, only the eastern and western sections remain. Despite significant damage during World War II, Chania’s old quarters remain the most picturesque urban area in Crete, notably the Venetian harbor with its 15th-century lighthouse. We will wander through its colorful neighborhoods, discovering traditional lifestyles and unique spots off the beaten path. You can enjoy a meal at one of its cozy taverns, either in the quaint back alleys or by the waterfront, and have some free time for shopping or further exploration.
