This tour begins with a visit to a family-owned olive oil estate nestled in the gently rolling hills outside of Heraklion. Surrounded by olive groves, this eco-friendly farm preserves the traditional methods of organic olive oil production—stone milling and cold pressing. We’ll enjoy a guided tour of the estate, including an olive oil tasting, hosted by the owners. Next, we’ll drive through the vine-covered countryside to a local winery, surrounded by 7 hectares of vineyards. Here, the focus is on exploring the potential of Cretan grape varieties, as well as how foreign varieties adapt to the Greek climate and blend with local ones. After a tour of the production facilities and cellars, you’ll take part in a hands-on cooking class. Under the guidance of a local chef, you’ll prepare traditional Cretan dishes and learn the secrets of the healthy Cretan diet. The experience concludes with a meal, where you’ll enjoy the wines from the estate and savor the dishes you’ve prepared.
