Heading west, our first stop will be at a family-run olive oil estate set on the gently rolling hillsides outside Heraklion. Nestled among olive groves, this ecological farm highlights traditional organic olive oil production, with the oil being stone-milled and cold-pressed. We will tour the premises and enjoy an olive oil tasting with the owners. Next, we’ll drive through the vine-growing region to visit a local winery surrounded by 7 hectares of vineyards. Here, we’ll explore the potential of Cretan grape varieties and their ability to blend with foreign ones. After touring the production area and cellars, we’ll dive into a hands-on cooking class, preparing traditional dishes under the guidance of a local cook. The experience will conclude with a tasting of the estate’s wines and the lunch you’ve prepared.
